Most people think salvation is all there is. They don't understand that there is so much more to living the Christian life, and accept mediocrity in their understanding of who God is, and who they are before Him. They certainly don't want the hard lessons that bring about heart-changes, and humility is one of the lessons that give us a reverence for God unlike any other. There are so many examples of it throughout the Bible, and I offer insight into those. I also offer my personal recollection of the road God took us down when my husband prayed for humility in his own life. It's a rare gift when God allows you to see another side of His love, and the flavor is sweet.
When a wealthy, arrogant woman is shot on her way to a dinner party in New York, she enters a period of timeless seconds before she dies. In the world of her alternate self she believes she is on a mission to right wrongs she's committed in others’ lives and so redeem herself, all the while avoiding the Dragon who is out to destroy her. One of these souls is actually her son Andy, who she does not recognize until it’s almost too late. He has become a copy of who she was in her life-arrogant and self-serving. The Dragon sends them both through a vortex in order to seal their fates, but through their interaction in that world they both are able to remember, let go, and redeem themselves. When she at last remembers who she is and that she is in a world of her own making, she is horrified to realize that when you die, there are no second chances. During her last moments she is able to regain consciousness in time to repent and realize that, without her influence, her son may have a chance.
